John Sandford's newest Minneapolis police novel, 'Phantom Prey' (good read like all the books in this series), has a running riff about the gearhead police photographer and his new D3, with a bit of Nikon vs Canon partying. Sounds as though the author has himself a D3, which he no doubt researched at dpreview. He could be here, too.

A few weeks ago on Lost, the character Ben Linus, was seen sporting a D100, circa 2005. I was glad to see that they didn't goof up by giving him a more modern camera for the time period the episode was representing.

The D3 is fiction? Damn, I thought it sounded too good to be true...

Well, I've never actually seen one, so maybe it is fiction. All of you who list it in your profiles might really be lying to us - there is no such beast!

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed and enjoyed that
