Hey guys,

I have a quick question I'm hoping someone can help me with. Last week I recieved a used Canon 300F2.8 lens from KEH. I used it for one assignment with no issues. Today I used it for district track meet. And several times when I hit the AF button the light blinks just inside the camera real fast, and the lens wont AF, If I release AF button and hit it again it usually af. Sometimes I would just reach up and hit the af-m switch back and forth and it would also start again. Othertimes no issues. And when it does AF it tracks beautifully and fast. Should I send this lens back and see about getting another one or do you think this is a contact issue.

Why risk it? Swap it out.

Ditto. That lens cost you probably a pretty penny, knowing KEH prices for those......shouldn't take your chances with something that might escalate into an unrepairable lens.

Also, perhaps adding $500 can get ya a used IS version.

Well, it's probably not the dreaded turn-this-lens-into-a-$2500-paperweight dead focus motor but definitely worth taking seriously. Did it come with a shop warranty?

OK thanks guys, I was just trying to see if perhaps a CF in the 1DMKIII might cause this. Yeah I've got a warrenty on it, and its also within the return period. Problem is now I've sold my Sigma 120-300 lens and its baseball playoff season for the paper. Now I have to get ahold of KEH to see what they can do for me.
