Here's another new one for me from Mexico. It's looks similar to a blue jay, though it's twice it's size, has an elegant head dress and an elongated wide tail. I was lounging on the beach under an umbrella when I heard the loud repetitive calls of these birds. Fortunately I had the 300/ 1.4x all setup on a sidekick/ballhead/tripod combo within arm's reach.

Wow Herb, the hits just keep on coming! You not only capture that magpie you caught it in the act. Great stuff! I've been loving seeing the pictures from you trip. Got more to come?

Only a call of a bird could interrupt lounging on the beach Interesting top feathers, a whole lotta tail going on there Herb Love that neck ring on this Magpie. And yes the Grackle does have a 'great tail' You are having too much fun, just great you are sharing it.

Nice bird Herb,

looks like a beauty...

Don't you just want to take a hose to the birds at times (I'm talking about the Grackle). I had the same problem with my crows .....

What's coming next from this trip Herb

Keep them coming.

Thanks Socrate, I only had several seconds before he took off, so I'm pleased I was able to get a few to ID him.
