Got my 1855IS kit this week and with my 30D took some 18mm frames, 1/8 sec @ 5.6 Raw with USM 100/.3/0 @ ISO 1250 (hence the noise you may notice)
Some bowing is evident but the IS works and edge to edge IQ is very nice.
It focuses fine and quietly. Fine basic walkaround with wide angle view (on 1.6x bods) unavailable for less than 2x the cost. I'm satisfied...
