I am not one to come on and totally bad mouth and bash a fellow photographer, let alone a well respected photographer. But..... I have a reason to warn you all.

On April 1, 2008 I purchased his 2 new dvds on his website ryanschembri.com. I got a confirmation email and said they would ship and be in my possession by April 21st. I emailed him on APril 22nd asking for an update. He said he would get back to me in a day. Nothing... 2 days go by and I email again thinking ok he is busy and forgot. Still nothing. I emailed 2 more times and last night a 3rd time. No response from him. I am now out $200 for the DVD's (not a lot of money but it is the point) and still no response from him as to where the dvd or refund is. All I want now is a refund or the damn DVD's....

So it is all clear to me now. To become rich and famous like these well known photographers we have to come up with some hour long DVD on wedding photography, sell a crap ton of them and then disappear from the face of the earth and then a few months later market ourselves a ton again and come up with some other scam and sell a crap ton of those and then split again. It all makes sense now.

So beware, do now give this guy a penny of your money or a second of your time.

I sure hope he treats his brides better than this. I am half tempted to post this on some local boards of his own and contact his local news and local legal authorities.

Write to the PPA and see if they can assist you........i hope you get your money back.......Ryan is well known, i can't see him intentionally stealing your money.

Is there a hard line phone number for his studio that you could call ?

I called, no call back... I contacted his local police and filed a report. I am looking in to if his locals have a better business like we do here in the states. I will file there. I also contacted his father and will also be in contact with xsight since he works for them now. He is ruining Jerri's name now.

If you paid by credit card, can you contact the card company. They will usually handle it for you. I would print out your post that you have done here on FM...I would then fax it to the number listed above. If that don't get his attention, nothing will. To be so young and so awesome at what you do and then let stubidity take over and kill your business is insane. He would have been much better served to have gotten you the DVD's and you come here and rave about them. Yvette

I feel for you. I believe he is currently in Europe right now touring. That does not justify what has happened but may be behind his absence.
I hope it pans out for you. I really like his work.

yea I threatened to involve legal and didnt hear anything back until this morning. Just a bunch of bull I heard from him before. I dont believe it until I see it.

Like I told him, if the dvd turns out to be good, I will be more than happy to promote it. just like I am a fong fan. I will talk him up left and right, most hate him. but I dont.

I had all this as well, in 2007. E mails, phone calls, promises Blah Blah. Still took me 3 months to get my money back. I'll never deal with him again.

The dude is certainly a scammer... man, the police need to be all over this dude.

If you have resolved this was that you were insistent - otherwise, he would have just said, "ha, ha - sucker"

No professional would do this to any of his/her customers! The guy should not be trusted and people may as well take their money elsewhere...

Spoken like a four year old. No professional would be as silly as to say "otherwise, he would have just said, "ha, ha - sucker" let alone half the other stuff.
There was a problem that is hopefully resolved. If not let's hope appropriate bodies can take it from there. Let's stick to that without sinking into just being nasty.

The appropiate bodies were informed last year by many disappointed customers, including an Ombudsman (who also got ignored by Ryan), . If this was a one off situation I would not even bother to post. He could be a nice chap & his photography may be highly rated but as a businessman he is well below an acceptable level.
Check out some of the professional forums and you will see the evidence.

I posted on every blog he has on his journal, copy pasted my payment information like confirmation number.. after about 2 months i received my DVD..

After all the threads I have seen on DWF, there is no way I would consider sending him money. Hell, even Jeff Caplan tried to arbitrate and got ignored. Guy just takes the money and doesn't think he has any obligation to deliver anything.

at WPPI, I was amazed he was even applauded, talk about a joke of a businessman. And people say, ah well, he is a great photog. Not true, his father is a great photog, ryan just happens to know photoshop pretty well.

Anyone thinking of ordering his PS DVD's, this thread is what happens every single time lol...

true.. if I dont have the dvd's by the end of the week as promised, will just call my cc, his local police and cause a scene with him.
