Beautiful Susan! That place is just killer and it looks like it's really active now. Did you try the Highlight Expansion trick?

Next time I'm down I'll bring along some killer Scott Harvey Old Vine Zin.

Beautiful series Susan, you've captured some great poses with some fantastic bgs. 1, 3, 7 and 11 are stand outs for me.

Fantastic series, Susan. Love this bird, and you really know how to make the most of your shooting time with this species. If I followed your advice and took along some vino, my birds would be upside down

Very nice series Susan. My favorites are #2, 3, 6, 7 and 9. Looks like you were handling your gear quite steadily after the bottle of wine. May be I should take a bottle of whisky in my next outing.
Jude

Hi Jude and thanks! I thinking that a nice shot of whiskey would be a big, big plus around any non-dangerous animals! My photography mentor keeps scolding me to "shoot looser" - well.... this is one way!

Absolutely gorgeous pictures and most probably among the most beautiful shots of these birds I have seen in a while.
The Egretta tula or snowy egrets are well known by their black legs and yellow feet. I am sure you know they only show feathers like those when they are in breeding season. Here in South Florida they are more plentiful during the winter months. I tried many times to photograph them at the Everglades National Park, always unsuccessfully. During a visit with the family to the Miami Zoo there was a beautiful one posing for me at the very entrance. The picture came out great and the enlargement printed with a professional HP printer was awesome. Life is full of surprises I guess!
Congratulations for your excellent shots.

Thanks William for the thoughtful comments!

Sue, wonderful job on all of these, the whites look good.

Thanks - used the highlight feature on the 1DmkIII and that helps with the whites, for sure...

Wine, eh? Did you bring your chardonnay to eos adapter as well

Hey Gero, multo thanks - and fortunately I need no adapters for vino...... And WHY doesn't this site have an emoticon for wine?!!!!!!!
