I'll be up in Montreal next month and was hoping to find some moose over the weekend. Any suggestions as to where I might go? I was guessing Parc Du Mont Tremblant or Parc National De La Mauricie will be best looking at the map. Both a good hike, anyplace closer I might have luck? Would either be better then the other?

Thanks,
Matt

I would suggest starting in the woods near a lake.

I've herd they respond to "here moosey moosey moosey"........

Sorry, but someone had to say it.

I'm not familiar with those parks but have had good luck seeing them that time of year along the highway or on some of the hiking trails at Algonquin Park which would be a 5 to 6 hour drive from Montreal.

I've never looked for them purposely but happen across them when just driving the highways in the early evenings generally.

Are you sure that is not a moostake?

While the OP wants to find a moose, I generally found that the moose (plural form of moose) found me. Sometimes to my great surprise. Big fellas.

To the OP: Sorry I don't know that neck of the woods. Good luck and stay clear of the males.

Hi Tarnis!
Not that easy to date a moose in Montreal!
They tend to be extremely shy in the wild!
Safest bet would be a zoo in Granby a few hours drive from Mtl!
But there is a very interesting wildlife park in ST-Felicien north of Quebec City you might get many more worthy shots of local fauna !
