Not much really.

5D Mk II.
1D Mk III N.
2 new lenses.

The source is an old Israeli photographer which shoots Nikon, has a vast collection of Nikon equipment and has some internal knowledge in Nikon and Canon (a little). FWIW, he is well respected in Israel and is considered a reliable source.

BTW, the link is in Hebrew so I see no point in posting it. Then again, if some of you do read Hebrew I will post it.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I like two new lenses idea only

Thats why I'm not buying one, and skipping right to the 5DIII, due in April 2011

I bet he said that the 5D2 will cost what a 5d did at release, have faster af than any Canon, better fps than any sports camera, use CF and SDHC or whatever at the same time, be weather sealed, have sensor cleaning, iso 50-25600 with an option for 51200, +/-50 MA for lenses, 1500 shot battery life, with a built in battery grip, 3 extra batteries, kitted with a 10-300 f/1.2 IS DO VR DX IRS CIA lens, and a 56k modem.

These rumor threads are ridiculous. I didn't buy my 30D and look at it and go, man...if only it was this much better. I bought it to shoot it. When I buy my next camera, I'm not going to look at it, thinking of the next upgrade that I have to have. I don't look at my future wife thinking of my next wife.

I think a lot of people are getting themselves worked up for something, thinking that something is going to be amazing, and maybe they are getting to worked up. For example, it's said that the 20D to the 30D isn't a big upgrade. For all we know, that's all the more the 5D to the 5D2 will be.

A few things I think you can count on would be, "weather sealing", not like the 1D series, but more like 40D+ or something. I think live view (doesn't the XSi have it, and the 40D does too), that "sensor cleaning", and the ISO noise reduction that the 40D or whatever has. Higher MP, maybe a bit faster frame rate, and better/updated AF. I think the price point will be similar to the 5d's original price. This seems to make sense with the current Canon upgrade models.

Guaranteed Canon 5DII announcement pending. I just ordered a new 5D. Announcement will occur within 5 minutes of me opening the box.

Nah, 5 minutes after you show all your buddies your newest toy. Then your newest toy becomes "out-dated". You'll come to the forums and say, can I use the 5D for weddings? Someone will say, nah you need the 5D2, the 5D doesn't have the (insert what the 5D does now, and does very, very well here) that the 5D2 does.

Nah, my buddies will hear about it 5 minutes _before_ I show them. That way they will be ready with the derisive comments.

I wanted to sell off my other 3 bodies and get a 1D mark III, but my friend sold his after afing it for just 2 months. AF issues. (what's new?) Thing is, he took it to Canon in Irvine twice. Had the Blue Dot already. They applied some other fix. In the daytime, focus was pretty good. But at night, using flash, even with micro-adjusted lenses, it would constantly grab focus of something in the background.

I am hoping Canon comes out with a new 1D Mark III N with 100% fixed AF, and upgrade the LCD to a full 640x480 display, Everything else about the 1D Mark III is VERY nice as-is. Of course, be nice to toss in contrast-based Live View.

I seriously doubt the notion that the alleged N model will have a different sensor. And no, he gave no further info about spec as he doesn't know. He is a Nikon guy and his info about Canon is much less than it is about Nikon.

Also, if you don't like rumour threads, why click on them and say you don't like them? Just avoid clicking on them.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

5D replacement coming soon.

BTW, is there a website on Israel's famous war photographers? I am sure there are many.

Cheers,

Because there's 900 of them. That and, why not tell everyone that trying to guess a day of the month that the new camera will be released with all of these awesome stats (I can't get over the new 5d being a 1dsm3 for 5D pricing), when infact Canon has said NOTHING about it, is silly. The only "sources" we have for information are a Nikon shooter, or previous threads stating information with links that have no point, or users who registered to Dpreview yesterday, with 1 post.

It's been stated before, basically this new camera will be 2 years old as soon as it comes out, and people will have already planned it's replacement.

Sorry, I don't see that as a serious answer. In this forum such threads are allowed and produce a lot of interest from many users.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Your threads are worthless, you are just trying to stir up the crowd. You posted the same exact thing in the Nikon forum except just changed the gear. Why bother? I have sources that tell me the 5D2 has already been released, what makes your sources better than mine? If anything, you are your source, and are just making up information to get everyone aggrivated. Please, stop posting for a while.

If you think my threads are worthless, don't post in them. If everybody will think the same, it will simply float down.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

1D Mk III N.

And it's star feature will be a bigger LCD and AF that works?

Come on, they havnt even got the 1diii working right yet, they can't be bringing out a replacement.

That would be rather stupid and just kick pro's in the teeth who've shelled out and spent a lot of money on the mkiii and had all these problems.

Maybe Canon will bless us with a 50/1.2 v2 that has more user-friendly design compromises incorporating corrections for spherical aberration that will insure accurate AF at close distances.

We need a rumor such as:

Rumor has it that after May, the calendar people will be releasing June.

Sound good?

New lenses would be nice, in order of preference ;

24-70 F2.8 L with IS - yes please!
updated 70-200 F2.8 L IS with latest IS and IQ on a par with F4 L IS.
135 F2.0 L with IS
100-400 needs an update or a new lens like the Nikon 200-400 F4
100mm f2.8 macro with IS, would make it a bit more versatile

New 5D, just need 2xCF slots, 12 Mpixels, better high ISO, 4fps is acceptable, better AF, and a LCD I can see in daylight!

June is possible if Canon is feeling the pressure from Nikon with D3/D300, but only Canon marketing will know for sure. Personally I think August is more likely for the 5D upgrade announcement.

I called Nikon, and they said Canon is canceling all of their dSLR's except the rebel line.

They cited posts on fredmiranda.com, dpreview.com and a few other sites, that said "450>5D".

On the up side, all new Canon cameras will have a built in fax machine instead of direct print.

You gotta be kidding right? Curiosity is in our nature, and you don't fight against nature, it just happens, look at what happened to Pandora. If I tell you don't think of George W Bush what's the next thing that pops into your head? Right, Bush's face. There's something you can't help doing.

To me such threads are fun to read, but I know to some, a false date, like June, will give them 1 more month waiting in agony, and no, they won't admit it. That's also in our nature .

Even Canon themselves haven't said a thing, why should someone know anything firm? Even if they do and decide to leak it, grow some balls and leak it like a real pipe lol, not fleeting droplets that vaporize even before hitting the ground. And from a Nikon shooter? You realise how troll-like and ridiculous that sounds?

I don't mind jokes, but a mean joke is still mean, because it gives some poor and naive people false hope. Maybe it's better to save us bandwidth and let those poor souls have some peace, because they get worked up easily over non-credible words of mouth.

I know I wouldn't have enough money to buy 5D2 at the time of release, therefore such rumors don't affect me, but another cheap 5D is irresistible.
