Yes, the two Northern Lights were taken hand held. I was rushing to snap the pictures before they (lights) shifted.

Not to hijack my own thread, but this is what I wake up to every morning...

I used a Canon 1D Mark III and a Canon 24mm f/1.4 L at 2am. The shutter speed was the only thing different...

Definitely, when it's warmer, the scenery are even more amazing. Plus you're not freezing your butt off at night trying to take pictures...and if you like fishing Halibut capital!
