Hey Mark, go up on the price so you get paid for the effort you are putting in. Could you tell me how the adapters were shipped?
Thanks
Dennis

"Could you tell me how the adapters were shipped?"

Good luck Dennis, I've tried posting here, sent PMs, sent emails, etc. all with no response. I ordered mine Dec. 24th so I should have been in that first batch sent out. I see people in CA and Alaska are getting theirs so Seattle shouldn't be that far off. A simple yes or no as to whether an adapter was sent out is all we're asking and if no then we could ask for a refund which would free up an adapter for someone else.

Jack,
I ordered mine in the second week of January. Recently, I sent an email to Mark inquiring about the availability. He replied back telling me that mine would be in the second batch and that I could expect that in approximately a month from now. Since you didn't get it in the first batch, I would say that you would be getting it in the first week of June or so.

Thanks for the info AGeoJO. But, I should be in the first batch based on info on his website and if not then a simply reply to my emails asking for any info would have been nice.

Actually, at the time I ordered the adapter I was shooting both Canon and Nikon. For various reasons I chose the Nikon dSLR. If I could get in touch with him and find out if my adapter was mailed I could say, "Hey Mark, I am now shooting with a Nikon body only so to free up an adapter go ahead and just issue me a refund." If it's already mailed out then that's fine too, I'll just post it to the B&S message board. Delays are understandable but not returning multiple requests for an update is not good. We're all busy, I'm busier than most, but if I start a business transaction I make sure it's taken care of until the end. He has time to post to the various message boards so rather than doing that how about writing back paying customers? If I'm being unreasonable then sobeit.

As per his website...

"April 26th: Orders placed before December 26th now shipped."
"April 28th: Order backlog cleared to January 4th."
"April 21st: NOW SHIPPING! Clearing order backlog . . ."

For those who have received the adapter (or are about to), please share your experiences with it.

Several emails have been sent to all customers, and in the vast majority of cases I've sent additional replies to those requesting them.

In the end of year accounting a few weeks ago, we discovered a previously overlooked batch of 8 very early orders placed over Christmas. Unfortunately, I've been able to confirm from my records in the last few days that these did not make it into the first batch. I will be sending emails to that group today.

Demand for this adaptor has far outstripped expectations: in December, I anticipated making a batch of 20 for people I knew, priced just to cover the costs. The current order tally stands at more than 125.

Gradually – and somewhat reluctantly – I've had to scale up supply, manufacture, admin and costs to meet the demand, but in the early days, I had no 'commercial-grade' system for tracking orders or maintaining the high standards of customer relations we tend to expect these days (well, US customers, anyway: in the UK, poor service is a much-cherished national trait). However, we are now on the case: we're set to be delivering these ex-stock soon, and we have admin in place to handle the volume. Dennis and Jack – yours were in the lost 8, I'm afraid, along with Rob Galbriath's.

So apologies again: as before, I will refund promptly anyone who's been troubled by the delay – is that what you want, Jack? If so, just PM or mail me.

Any idea Mark when the lever version will be available?

Hi Mark,
This is a bit disappointing. This has made me shoot some projects without my wide angle lenses, seeing I sold my Canon 17-40 and Sigma 12-24. Shooting without these has made me realize how much these lenses were just acceptable and not up to the quality I expect. I have gone back to using my Zeiss 28 and Stitching with my Zork and Pentax 35mm. The Zork gives me about 17mm coverage and combined with the MK3 is amazingly detailed and sharp with its 300meg files. I still can't wait to get your adapter after seeing the samples with this lens.

I know: I feel really bad about letting down my favourite half-dozen early adopter comrades but getting hold of those Pro-spec base adaptors in quantity has been a headache beyond my worst imagining.

In a few months, though, all this will be forgotten: I'll have them in stock, half a dozen other suppliers will have copied it, and we'll all be loving our 14-24's . . .

This may be ridiculous compared to people waiting since Dec,... But, any Idea when an early May order may ship? I'm more than willing to wait, and am really looking forward to it, but a vague idea of when would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mark!

Sean.

I must be one of the 'lost boys' too - order placed 12/24/07.

Thanks Mark, sorry to have to post my issues on the board. I will send you a PM. I would prefer a refund because I currently do not have any Canon gear and I'm sure there are people who really need the freed up adapter. If currency is an issue with Paypal I'm fine with accepting and selling the adapter at cost to someone on FM. I'm just glad I was found as my worse fear was that my order was completely lost.

Any status on my refund? I hate to use the board as a way to get in touch with Mark but once again my PM went unreplied for 4 days after I immediately PM'd him about a refund. I also sent an email two days ago. This is in addition to months of attempting to get any info about my order.

Thanks for any update, this time please PM or email me as I can't get thru to you. I've sent you my paypal address and paypal transaction number for the 24th of Dec. 2007.

UPDATE 2:23 PST: REFUND FINALLY RECEIVED TODAY

Cobblers! You emailed me YESTERDAY. The refund was processed TODAY. And this is not the place for this conversation.

"And this is not the place for this conversation."

Only after people post to this forum do we get answers. Nobody likes to air dirty laundry but you do not answer emails and PM's. Right after you posted to the board that you missed 8 orders I sent you a PM about a refund. That was 5/9. I followed up on 5/11 with an email. Today is 5/13 and I finally got my refund AFTER I posted to the board that I wanted an update about a refund. Was it going to be processed today anyway? Who knows. This is all in addition to weeks and months of trying to get any info so though we don't like to post here to get answers it has been the only way to do so. Thank you for the refund.

As far as I'm concerned it's over but if you want to discuss a timeline and the number of unreplied emails and PM's over the past couple of months on the board I am more than willing. The great thing about PM and emails is that a copy of each message is saved.

Mark did not have any problem using this board (and others) to communicate interest for his product, so why so much concern about others using it to communicate back to him? Over the past few months there have been numerous posts where customers have said their emails to Mark directly have gone unanswered. Considering his apparently poor record of keeping those same paid customers up to date on their orders, it seems understandable.

It is just not possible to engage 130 people in conversation simultaneously. So, yes: for some, the service has been lousy; for all, the delays have been shameful, and I've made many refunds.

But I'm afraid that is the deal: until the base adaptors are available in quantity, you have to be long-suffering and patient, or take your money back – and there isn't a thing I can do about it beyond continuing to do what I can to get the things into people's hands ASAP.

I guess I can't stop you complaining, and really I quite understand: it's just that it won't do either of us any good. For anyone else similarly upset, don't get mad, get even: post here, PM or email me, and I'll return your payment, too. Let's get all those filthy knickers on the line . . .

For the record, Jack, I asked whether you wanted a refund on May 9th (on record in this thread, above). I received the following email on May 12 at 2.16pm and completed the refund on May 13th.
-------------------
Hi Mark, I had time to look up the transaction from Dec. 24th 2007. The Unique Transaction ID is #XXXXXXXXXXXXX and as you mentioned I am one of the 8 individuals who had their sale lost. My paypal account is xxx@xxx.com and a refund is preferred because I am now shooting with Nikon. Thanks, Jack

I seriously hope the mainstream adapter manufacturers come out with their versions soon. Wonder why it is taking so long, surely they would see a market for this.

Can someone actually post a picture of the adapter itself and how the 14-24mm f2.8 looks on a 5D or 1Ds Mk II.

I do not have this lens and did not order the adapter. Just curious to see what it looks like and if someone has samples, please post same as well.

Here are some shots of the lens and adapter on my 5D and on my 1DS3.
I am also including some recent shots I took handheld at f8 with no sharpening and no adjustments done in lightroom, just straight conversion from RAW to jpeg with default settings.
