Just saw this on yahoo news ..

Ultra High Speed Camera
Japan's NHK has developed a high-speed camera that can record video at the staggering rate of one million frames per second. On the exhibit floor, the camera was trained on a hanging water balloon. When an NHK engineer punctured the balloon the camera captured every cascading droplet in ultra slow motion.

When do we get that feature? In the D3x1M? Where's the pre-release sign up list.

That's it I'm stocking up on 1TB CF cards before they become hard to find...

I honestly don't want a videocamera though...

A Japanese television station has been airing a regularlly scheduled show using clips from this camera. It's said to be among the most highly rated television shows.

How long before some american gets one and tries a macro of an exploding stick of dynamite held in his hand?

they all seem to be black and white.... does this camera support colour?? if not, I'm not buying it....

(btw, it seems like it costs $205,000..... I'm sure one or two people on this board will buy it just because )

I dont think we even fully comprehend how many frames that is especially since the average pro body is rated at 300,000 shots for its shutter....
I am sure this camera will be vital to engineers and scientists, but I would not want it for the sheer number of files it could create!

We have come a long way since 1931!

Assume both use a rotating prism or rotating mirror as a shutter, pretty common for ultra high speed cameras, although this could be a totally electronic shutter as nothing mechanical in a shutter could reach that rate of speed.
