All shots taken last week at a Varsity track meet with the Canon 20D and 70-200 non-IS. C&C appreciated.

It's just not fair... you guys with those black track surfaces.

Around here all the track surfaces are red which on a bright day causes the runners to look sunburned. :-)

Looks like fun. I miss my kids track meets. They still run but it college so I do not get to as many meets. Here is my C&C for what it is worth. I am not perfect by any means but this is what I see:

1. is good. Sometimes it helps to have some of the pit in the shot to show the height but I know it is not always possible.
2. Good timing but it would be much better if the runner on the left was all in the shot.
3. Needs to be cropped tighter.
4. Good shot, maybe a bit soft, can you sharpen it more?
5. I does not look like anyone is in focus and the runner being cut off on the right hurts it.
6. You need more of the athlete in the shot. I don't think you need him entirely but it looks awkward having so much cropped out.
7. smoking gun looks good but I would crop tighter.

#1 is the better shot of the series.
#2 does not work for me,The focus is on the guy in the left and he is out of the frame.
#3 The image is soft. The hurdle is in focus and the action was caught as her left foot started to go over the hurdle. I would recommend closing the lens to increase your DOF to 5.6 or 6.3
#4 is ok but it looks soft. Maybe a bit of post processing sharpening.
#5 is no good. Sorry. Everything is out of focus.
#6 I do not like the crop. I like to see the whole body in the pole vault.
#7 does not work for me either. They huge Belly distracts me

Also you may want to straighten the horizon on the hurdles.

Francis.
