Though I'm not that in to black and white photography, I do have fun converting some shots from time to time. Here are three images, taken at totally different location within the last six months. Let me know what you think!

An old groin at the Baltic Sea, Germany

Some wild light appeared when during a thunderstorm the sky suddenly cleared up, Yoho National Park in Canada

Hey Robin,

Super shots and fantastic conversion to B&W! I like the slower shutter speed in #1 a lot. And that last one, very cool! How neat to see that dock like that.

Wonderful shots, great BW conversion. I like them all, but esp #1 and #3 speak to me.

I love #1, very dramatic and powerful, and the light in #2 is quite special! Oh and I really like that lonely tree with the orange background (dune?) on your website. Good to see some of your work too

Fine set of images Robin . I'm not too keen on the broken horizon in the 1st shot though. Have you tried a vertical crop dead centre ?

Hi Robin,
As all the others have stated, a fine set on B&W.
I really like No 3.

I like them in order presented. The first is excellent. The conversions are all great as well.

Hi Robin, wunderbar! The diagonal perspective in #1 and the light and clouds in the upper left are classic. Great work!

When i read we would be seeing an old groin i was a little nervous, but then pleasantly surprised when they loaded. Very nice set. Hard to get much better conversions than this. The Yoho one is my pic.

Thanks a lot guys!! It's great to see that most choose a different favorite.

@floris: Yep, it's a dune. Image was taken with 300mm in the Dead Vlei Valley, Namib Desert. Wish I could have been there earlier in the morning for some wide-angle shots, but been there with my family and had to compromise. I'm looking forward to hang up the Sandstone King in my room next week ;-)

@mooch: Thanks for your critique. Maybe you could post a crop as you'd like to have it? Would be very nice if you could do so :-)

@Heinz: Your German is excellent ;-)

Thanks again to everybody.

Excellent set of images. The second one is truly amazing, so is the first.

Great set here, excellent conversions. I find the first and second to be truely amazing shots and the first one is my favourite. I like the third one as well, but the sunken pier (even though it's old and decaying, which I love) is a bit distracting.

I like these a lot, Robin. Your conversions work really well for me, in that I feel that the B+W look really enhances the pictures, making the scenes much more dramatic and powerful than they would be in colour. I think it is to do with getting the contrast just right. Lovely work.
