I was wondering if I should keep my 20D or upgrade to the new canon xsi? My setup now is Canon 20D with 4,000 actuations, canon ef 50mm 1.8II, EF 85mm 1.8 and canon 200 2.8L. Should I sell the 20D and keep all my lenses for use with the xsi?

Why not the 40D?

Whats wrong with your 20D? Is there something in particular that makes you want to upgrade?

I sold my 20D for a 400D, so obviously I think it's a good upgrade but I wouldn't even consider it until the XSi has been out a while, had the bugs ironed out and dropped from it's inflated initial price

No I just see the hype that folks put toward the newer xsi. There is nothing wrong with the 20D it works flawlessly and I have taken some amazing photos with it. Well since I have purchased some good Canon glass.

That.

I would be confident that it would be a great camera out of the box but I tend to avoid buying the latest, recently released, model if at all possible.

Waiting for the XSi to be released and buying a used XTi would be more my style (Or, as I actually decided to do, wait for the 40D to be released and buy a used 30D).

Then why upgrade unless the 20D is falling short somewhere? Chances are the XSi will be a downgrade in almost every way except megapixels.

I have a 20D that gets used regularly even though I upgraded to a 1DMkIII about a month ago.

The only reason I bought a second body (I'm keeping the 20D) is because some of what I shoot pushes the 20D beyond where I get acceptable results (low light dance recitals), the 1D3 focuses better in those conditions and having a "real" ISO3200 and fake (but fairly usable) ISO6400 has been a boon.

not much of a difference with XXD and XXXD bodies. i've owned 3. the 40D will focus/shoot faster if anything.
