These aren't terribly exciting but I was proud to get these shooting in the shade of the forrest without a flash and spending 20 minutes inching close enough to get these full frame shots. I had to shoot high ISO and nearly wide open to get anything so the dof wasn't the best but I was happy nonetheless.

Look forward to sharing with each other in 2004!!!

A dear friend of mine died recently. An avid skydiver, he stated in his will that his ashes should be dispersed by his skydiving buddies.
I went to south Florida to be a part of that--here's the resulting images. The cloud of his ashes, the only cloud to be seen, lasted only about 50 seconds.

So this is a bit of a sentimental choice:

Fantastic images in this thread. I do bugs mostly, but here is a toad. I call it "the Prince" because it appears to be twiddling it's thumbs while waiting for a kiss. Since the critters are nocturnal, I brought this one into my "studio" and shot it with a white backboard and then replaced the background in the digital darkroom to give it a natural feel.

This is my first animal post, so be kind. Taken today at Bryce Canyon NP, Utah.

Maybe not the best this year but it was a kick meeting those guys for the first time at 13,000 feet.

After a recent crash of my home PC, I don't have much left to choose from. I just finished going through the FM archives looking for some of my posts. Unfortunately, not all of my posts still contain the shots that were originally imbedded (I really wish I could get the shots of my daughter back). Anyway, here's one I managed to retrieve...Patrick

Hello,

What pictures - thanks to all the folks here for the great images and inspiration through the year!

I enjoy this one, although why did I have to decide to post one right after John McFadden? Tough act to follow.....

Unfortunately I'm away from home, so don't have access to a larger, high-res version, but I reckon this is the best nature photo I took this past year. These little butterflies are about 1/2 an inch in wingspan, maybe up to 3/4 of an inch, no larger. They are also rather active, and hard to catch, so I'm rather proud of getting one - it took several tries over quite a few weeks to get one as good as this!

Handheld, 10D with 100mm f/2.8 Macro (the older version, which I no longer own, in case you are reading my sig ).
