May take a trip to Burlington Iowa for some Eagles and was wondering if anyone has been there in the last few days?

Jonesy,

HEY that's my home town!! I'm currently in California but own property back in Iowa near Washington and still have a home and property near Marengo.

I just talked to family back there and they state there were a few eagles in the trees down by Big Muddy's restaraunt (Or whatever it's called now). Don't know of any exact numbers but good luck. I know from past that further Down south by Keokuk are a few hot spots and of course Dubuque is always a good area.

Good luck and hope you find plenty > Look forward to you posting a few shots from Back home!!

Anthony

Not sure about Iowa, but there are tons in the Skagit County area of Washington. I think I saw the count at somewhere over 300. Might be worth a 5 hour drive to check it out.

I was in Dubuque this past Sunday. Water is completely frozen below the Lock and Dam. I only saw one far away. Last year this place had open water and full of eagles. There is quite bit of open water at the Lock and Dam in Bellevue. However there is fence that is 5-6 feet tall between the park and the river.Pull a picknick table near the fence and setup the tripod there. I counted 60 to 70 eagles. Again Eagles were further away compared to last year. keokuk had there Eagle days this past Sunday.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm I went to Lock & Dam #18 ,Mississippi River Lock & Dam - Gladstone, Illinois
Last year and there were around 3-400 eagles....Is this the same place were talking about here?

I'm not sure what post your referring too but:

Under the Bridge in Burlington on the Iowa side is Big Muddy's > they have been spotted there.

Down South near Keokuk along the River is a Great place and every year they a Bald Eagle Days and there are good numbers there.

North near Dubuque at any of the lock and damns is usually pretty good.

I'm in California so not sure what the weather has been like back home. From what I hear it's been pretty coooooold. But any of the lock and dams would be a good place to look as there should still be some open water.

Good luck and let us know how it goes >> I'd love to see some of your captures.
