I think I might have mentioned this. While Gunny and I were watching the F4 at AFW last year I asked him what the range was on it. He told me 1.4 with the drop tank. Glenn's MiG was only about an hour with both drops. Not designed for 7 dollar JetA.

Range of course is relative. Our standard configuration for our missions were with wing tanks. Our guys averaged 1.25 hrs/sortie out over the gulf flying intercept missions. When they returned, we would refuel with 1200-1400 gals or about 9000-11,000 lbs (sometimes more). When they flew clean, they would log about .9 hrs/sortie. They couldn't make a cross country to El Paso with the wing tanks when the Jet Stream was over Texas.

I was sent to McClellan AFB TDY to support one of our F-4's flying as a target. They were logging 2.0 hr/sorties. The aircrew was exhausted when they came back because they flew a circuit given to them by the ground controllers at a slow airspeed. (Very dull for a fighter crew.)

Hope you're not going to fly through Atlanta for that cruise...

I "used" to eat at a restaurant (Oceana) in the Quarter, New Orleans whenever I had a layover there. That was until I caught it on an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Surprised I never had a case of botulism or Salmonella poisoning after seeing the issues there. Never again despite the rehab to it.

I'd love to be able to see one fly, so I went to the Collins Foundation website to check their 2013 schedule, but I don't see it posted. I did however find something else: an F-4 flight experience! Apparently they sell rides. I,m off to buy a lotto ticket!. :-)

this is being reported on Fencecheck as well. Seems that the USAF are proactively cutting any non frontline budgets ahead of any sequestration of funding.

As of now the RI Air National Guard open house at Quonset Point seems to be on target for June. They still list the Blues and the F-22 on the schedule.

Nothing else in MA or NH this year.
