Shots from Moody AFB Open House

Excellent shots from Moody Vance!. Which I had been there for the sunny days.

Thanks Chris. Though I enjoyed the show Saturday, I didn't get anything close to a keeper. As you know that is a scary show to schedule weather wise.

Jim, worry ye not about hotel rooms, we have two spare rooms here, you are welcome to one of those, and the other is there for any more MA2A folks that need it. Draw the short straw and we can probably put someone on a sofa bed too.

I have got to say that the transport in and out of the circuit was brilliant. We hardly waited any time at all for the shuttle bus. It is about 30-40 minutes from our house to expo centre where the buses are, and about 20-25 minutes on the bus. This assumes they make the same arrangement for the races in the spring, of course. Alan heard they hired 530 buses for this event!

J-A, I love that Mustang shot, very atmospheric.

I would love to know how much those RV pitches are. Mind you, you'd better have a roof capable of supporting a few folks in order to see over the fence, and you're shooting into the sun. Gaah!

Thats only where we congregate and drink beer when nothing is happening!

How was the main event? What a great race...i'm glad Vettel didnt lock it up - will make next weeks race that much more exciting.

Sometimes it all comes together. World's only Griffon powered Mustang, sunrise, the sodium lights actually giving a little glint off the plane, and the taxi lights lit up.

Tim,
very nice. How early do you get to the airfield to get these magnificent shots?

Dear Jo,

That's very kind of you! Thank you. Let's see how things shape up as we get closer. I absolutely could bring the RV down, didn't even think of that, but I would guess those slips are made out of unobtainium and priced accordingly.

So, Y'all give me your impression of accessibility? Can we walk the course and get those head on hero shots we love so much in aviation? Do you even need credentials for that? I'm being led to believe that once the introduction is made, I'll be golden. You never know with that kind of thing though, sometimes folks over estimate their clout, but I appreciate it regardless and we'll see. Kind of exciting to be thinking about shooting something completely different. More exciting to be thinking about another venue to join up with you all for fun!

BTW, we saw "Lincoln" this evening, just outstanding in every way. Very surprised it made it out of Hollywood because it very clearly and accurately tells the story of how conservatives freed the slaves and the democrats fought it tooth and nail. Kind of turned my mind into a pretzel to see Hollywood libs mouthing the lines that were prescribed for them, without choking on them. Not that the facts seem to influence anything anymore, it is interesting that it wasn't released a few weeks earlier.

Daniel Day Lewis was more Lincoln like than Abe himself. He merits an Academy Award for this role.

There are definitely head ons to be got from general admission, esp with something longer than 400. Its funny the expensive seats are probably great to sit and watch the race but dont offer much in terms of interesting angles.

Glenn, you are right about the seating vs. GA. If I had not been with my friend I would have been scouting for a better view. I did go up to the top of the hill on turn 1, grand stand side and I still didn't find a view.

L-39s? That doesn't seem right but maybe it's the paint job throwing me off this early in the morning.
