We had some snow today, so I took the kids to a local hill to go sledding. This was shot with the M8 and 50mm Summicron.

I'm finding I have to retrain my focusing with the 30D after using the 10D with its brighter screen...I practice everyday with these fast moving critters

AdamM: did you do anything to get those wonderful colors out of the camera? A polarizer, a bump in sat? I mean, those are just stunning, and if I can ever locate a 35-70/3.4 I don't think I'm going to hesitate. Wow.

godzakka,

Thanks! There's a lot of really stunning photography in this thread by many talented people, i'm honored you called those out. Cheers.

The colours, three tricks:

1. That crazy-awesome CZ 35-70. It's sooooooo good. Get one, you'll love it dearly.
2. Get up bloody early. Both of these shots are just at daybreak.
3. In Adobe Lightroom (i recommend highly as a photo manager, RAW processor, image tuner, archive holder) there's a function called 'vibrance' I've added my 5-7%. That is very very little, but it does give a hint more pop. Another slider called 'Clarity' is useful too, to reduce haze (amazingly, somehow)

No amount of post processing makes up for early morning or twilight light, gawd i've tried

/A

Every New Years Eve a neighbor has a fireworks display on the lake behind our house. I used the M8 and the 16-21mm at 16mm and about f16.

Zeiss 45/2.8 'pancake' tessar

Doesn't seem to be a hair splittingly sharp lens, but it's enough to resolve a good image on the 1Ds2 (probably on par with Canon 50/1.4). I usually use the 45 on my Contax film camera (RTS-2, which makes a nice small travel combo!), but decided to bring it along on a hike to see how it goes on the digital

I think with a 5d, this lens would make a great travel digital combo!

Spent a few days in New York, here are some impressions. I'm a first-timer (in NY) so don't expect too much in the way of originality
