Has anyone received the call from Canon in the UK yet to send in their 1D3? I registered on the day the lines opened and gave them my serial numbers, CPS number etc. and was told I'd get a call back in a few days.

That was nearly two weeks ago now.

I just called the Canon help desk and was told that although I'm registered in the queue, Canon (UK?) are currently trying to work out how to handle all the repairs as "there are a very great number in the queue". I got the impression the queue is far larger than was expected. Surely Canon UK couldn't have been so woefully unprepared as to not realise that just about every 1D3 they've sold would be booked in for the submirror fix?

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone from the UK has actually had the repair done yet?

It won't make you feel any better but I have a number of friends with the 1D3 and they are all in the same position as you. All registered and waiting to be told when they can send their bodies in for the fix.

I know of 6 people that have had theirs repaired so far. All turned round within the week...

Hi,
I got the call this monday 10th, to say UPS will collect my 1D3 tuesday,it was back this morning 9am all done very quick
CPS membership maybe helps, only thing USA/CANADA are given extended warranty cover for fixed cameras, my letter said:

Thank you for being a loyal canon custormer
Along with the return of your 1dmk3 please find a complimentry 2GB ULTRA 2 memory card to thank you for your patience and understanding during the period leading up to and during the repair of your camera....
Huh !! is this instead of the extended cover ?
Looks like more phone calls ,unless anyone knows.
Alan.

A 2GB Ultra II rather than an extended warranty? Aren't 2GB Ultra 2 cards basically free these days? If they try that with me I will make a serious fuss as I consider that to be bordering on insulting.

You could always just fill the "freebie" 2GB card up with duff shots showing that the fix doesn't work and send it back to them.

Got a call from Canon Elstree today, dropped it of 1/2 hours ago should be ready PM tomorrow. Was told no decision has been made yet about extended warranty, to identify the MKIII is fixed a sticker will be inserted in the battery compartment.

Cheers

Nick
