I was photographing an American Avocet when this Ring Billed Gull showed up with a candy cane. I never saw anything like this before, He spent a lot of time with it. He was trying to figure out how to eat it. I promise it is real not a PS spoof. Tis the season

You should have a Christmas card made from one of these images to send out.

Great thing about a surprise situation like that is when you actually nail it and get EXCELLENT shots...as you did here. Awesome.

Hey Rob
Happy Holidays..............a Seasonal picture capture of a lifetime here! Wow, nicely done and many nice captures, they are really neat.

So, I am off to the local gull hangout to hand out the 'green' version of this candy cane with little jingle bells attached so they are easy to find and.....................well you know the rest of the story........Ha! A very nice reward for you efforts, congrats.

Great pictures! But I fear there has been a misidentification. Surely this is a Common Gull - after all, it's scientific name is Larus canus...

Good one Rob, I watch the gulls down at the Marina and some of there antics are unbelievable so seeing this dosen't jolt me out of my boots, shorts maybe.
Also the photos look really great of them nice and clear and good color.
