I live in Orange Hill and work in Irvine. My area got fire the last 3 years, but fortunately the fire missed it this time. This one is the worst I've ever seen in Orange County. Thanks for sharing Bruce.

Besides the tragedy of it all, that's a lot of natural habitat and wildlife that's going up in flames. As if we didn't have enough problems with loss of habitat and wildlife due to development ........... Now this.

Bruce, thanks for posting these. I think the wildlife will recover fairly quickly, as it has in other areas scorched by fires, but more importantly, perhaps the magnitude of this fire will help curtail the rapid pace of development a bit.

I agree gerov, the damage from a fire is temporary but damage from development is permanent.
During the 5 hours that I was taking these pics, an entire hill would burn fiercely in minutes. Watching forces of nature always remninds me how unstable the physical world around us is.
Thanks for looking and for all comments.

Bruce those are ominous shots! I live one mile from there and am so glad I didn't go out and up the hill to look, or I wouldn't be able to sleep!

Thanks for posting these. I just got back from Yosemite last night and had not seen the whole news. We had a 10 hour drive home because of the closed roads. I was so tired, didn't want to know about evacuating, lolol. Luckily we didn't have to.

very sad news all around, I guess this is natures way, and we have no choice but to deal with it.

I can only imagine the insurance bills.

take care.

Bruce - thanks for posting these. It's unfortunate that it was the work of an arsonist.
