I'm considering the G9 as a "pocket" camera for around town when I can't carry my backpack full of 1dsmk2, lenses, flash "point and shoot" kit. The only thing I'm really leery of is the dang shutter release speed on these point and shoots. Does anyone have any experience with the G7 or G9 and the shutter release speed? Is it instant or delayed like the rest of the point and shoots?

And is AF relatively quick?

I'm not expecting my 1Ds series performance, but a good pro-point and shoot would be nice.
