Lide,
$5699.00 plus tax = $6100.00
Now they are 4699 + tax. GURRRRRRRRRRRRR!

What I would like to know is it seems quite a few people here have received blue dot bodies but not one has posted whether they work or not, or at least not that I have read in the last few pages......

Should all of us who are waiting simply assume that the fix works?

...and why has Rob Galbraith chimed in with his results? Surely he's had a chance to test by now.

I'm pretty much waiting on Rob's analysis of the fix before I purchase a mark 3

No sure why Rob is being so quite? I just wish I could test mine, I know I could go shoot cars but that was not my before. My before was soccer and football so I need to shoot same to really test it.

5699+tax holly cow batman that is a premium even with some kind of adjustment for the dollar. They are list down here 4500+Tax which made it 4900ish. Now you are just at "normal".

So i would say the $1000 drop has nothing to do with the 1D Mark III's price change.
Most popular sale prices from reputable dealers are still $4500 or so, no big drop !

And your local dealer sucks, put too much make up for the initial price

This price was back in August. That was the going rate in Canada back then. Free Trade?? Ya right!
Shame on you Canon!

He's in Canada. I think the price the large price drop may be more due to the currently high value of the Canadian dollar than anything else.

All I have got to say is WOW. OK so got to shoot my new replaced body SN 548xxx and it did excellent. It was not ideal shooting conditions sunny and warm, but I was able to see the focus issue even on cool gray days. Well that is what I shot in today and it was spot on. Shout it from the roof tops it works!

Oh and this was shot at 2.8 today which made my old M3's puke soft shots like they were going out of style. The new body is crisp even shooting from the end line (soccer) and hitting the defender on the other end.

Nice to hear some positives with the new fix, care to share a shot or two I have my M3 with the fix, just waiting for the snow/rain to quit so I can go out and test it, Wicked, did you fine tune your lenses, I found mine needing +8 or so on all of them to get them to hit focus point. also what lens did you use to try it out.

I posted a bit more in this thread.. http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/589376/3

I shot my 400 2.8 today. Normally I have that and my 70-200 2.8 on my other body but it has not arrived yet. So far no I would not say with my 400 I need to adjust any. I shot at one end of the field and hit a girl on the fly at the far end and could read her club name the shirt that was just on one side of the chest.

I will have a link to them soon on my web site so you can see but I am not an up loader on here. I will link them once I have them all done. All I am doing is crop and adjusting exposure.
Oh and the toss rate is low, I am only getting rid of once that normally would arms infont of faces, back turned or where I blew the shot. Before it was 40% or better would be crap that I just could not sell in my eye.

I posted this on the "Rob Galbraith & Mark III Autofocus" thread as well, but just in case you don't visit that one here it is:

I just got back from shooting 400+ BIF shots with my "Blue Dot" M3.. all I can say is that it is fixed, it reminds me of how things were when I was shooting my M2.

I think you all will be very pleased with the fix.

I will post some shots on my PBase account shortly. I will provide a link in a few.

Chad

What part of the country are you in? The heat was only a component in the focus issue. Living in the Seattle area even on overcast or gray days I could easily see the softness. When I went down to SoCal to shoot a tournament it was far worse. Yesterdays shot really gives me a good feeling again. I would say with out hesitation that is focuses faster than my M2's.

Chad, I assume you are seeing an appreciable improvement in focus performance. Am I correct?

I am a little discouraged reading on NSN that one photographer who just purchased the Canon 1D MK III "Blue Dot Special" and has the same exact AI servo tracking problems as he had with the previous body he had before.

Well, I am getting my Blue Dot camera tomorrow, taking it to Bosque Del Apache next weekend and I will certainly give it a whirl to find out if the autofocus works as it is supposed to shooting birds in flight.

Chad,
Your shots certainly look as good as they can get and beyond, so I am crossing my fingers to get a good one like yours.
What bothers me though that even with the fix someone gets a bad one.

I will cross mine as well, I think there still might be a bad one here and there, I talked to my sales rep and he said so far... and that was Friday, all of the "blue dot" ones that he has sold, have not came back... Knock Knock "WOOD"

Well since I have one coming next week from dell (they shipped me a dud one) that I hope is outside the range with BD. I will keep my fingers crossed that what 72 and I shot this weekend is the norm not the exception!
