Beautiful Shasoc! Good to hear that about the 40D. My plan had been to wait for the issues to get resolved with 1DMkIII and then buy one and use my 20D for backup. I still want the 1-series, but maybe I can sell the 20D and throw in a bit more cash to get the 40D as well - very tempting.

Hi, Ed. Thanks. My plan also was, and still is, to get the MKIII once all the issues have been solved. However the local photo store manager, who knows me, invited me to try the 40 D. I tried it and I kept it. I'm getting a lot more keepers with this camera.

Wow ! beautiful images, per usual. I think you may be right about the focus and exposures, however all your posted images seem to have great focus. Now if you want to get rid of that old junker body, ill pay the shipping to PA. Cheers Harry

Hi, Harry. Goof to hear from you. Thanks for the comments.

Wowser! Each one of these is outstanding. If I had to pick a favorite, I could narrow it down to 1, 3 and 8. The female Cardinal is just beautiful with the color combinations and that wild bg.

Doug

Thanks, Doug. Cardinals are still molting, and I,m avoiding to shoot them, but that female seemed to look fine and was in a very good spot for a nice picture.

Fantastic shots Shasoc. I was waiting a bit to get a 40D and have really been waiting to see some real life pics on subjects I'm use to shooting. I was in Best Buy today and loved the way it felt in my hand and I had a hard time not coming home and ordering one.

I know the 500mm F/4 adds a lot to the image, but man those look awesome!

Tanks for your comments, Mattbtn. I'm really surprised by the AF performance of this camera. I hope you'll get a chanche to shoot with one soon.

Excellent shots Socrate. Send them to Canon to use as marketing pics for the 40D.

Hi Socrate,

These are really outstanding. Not sure I can pick a favorite. I have been unsuccessful getting such a sharp, well-lighted and well-posed butterfly. Way to go on those. Enjoyed the hummers, cardinal and chickadee too!!

Stunning Socrate.
I've been solidly on the fense about possibly "upgrading" to a 40D from my 30D instead of trying to find a used MKIIn. Ive seen soo many post with mixed results from the 40D and nothing like this so far, you may have just made my mind.
.

Very well done.

Wow these are excellent Socrate... now I don't know who to give credit to. You or the camera. I know the camera is only as good as the guy/gal behind the lens. Wonderful job on all of these.

Thanks for your kind words, Shelley.

Heck of a way to show case the new camera, Socrate. Exceptional in every regard!!! I noticed when upgrading from the XT to the XTi I had about the same exposure differences. Must be Canon's new modus operandi with metering - favoring slightly underexposed as opposed to risking highlight clipping.

Ken

Thanks for your comments, Ken. I believe you're not to far from the truth about Canon's new modus operandi with metering.
