Just like I said today in an earlier post...Canon can announce the 40D now that I have purchased a 30D this AM ...if true it is still OK since delivery will be awhile and the price will not doubt start strog...Tom Rootness...in Two Harbors, Minnesota

I know my local shop has the 30D on clearance price.

50D is for August... by Jan 2008, we'll be back to the 10D.

i have sources telling me it will be announced tomorrow. just wait.

Kind of hoping it'll be July or August as the glut of European rebates end on June 31st (except the 400D, which is extended until the end of August now)

There was a rumor thread some time ago about a camera shop owner leaking a June announcement for the 40D. This shop owner is more reliable than the last one because of what again?

If it has ECF I'll sell my 20D. Otherwise, a couple more MP and autosensor shake are a real yawn.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've read about somebody's camera shop owner that had the inside scoop on the next Canon camera !
Of course this guy is different. No doubt that he's privy to information that nobody else has. After all, he's a camera shop owner.
But, keep guessing long enough and keep posting these ridiculous rumors and sooner or later somebody will get it right. And when they do finally guess right after two years of rumors, there are those that will see it as proof positive that rumors are based in fact.
Don't we have anything better to talk about ?

I hope you're source is right. If it is announced in July, then I'll have a good chance of having one in time for most of the high school football season. If not, my trusty 20D will continue to be my constant companion

I have to agree I am sure the good people at Canon run right out and tell only a few special shops. I hope it's not true I am enjoying my 30D to much and if a 40 comes out I will have to run out and get one. Damn just what Canon wants

EVERYTHING is a rumour until it officially is announced by Canon.

I mean, it's obvious there will be a 40D to replace the 30D. But when? THat is the magic question...

As for your source saying it'll be announced July, well, that's a guess anyone can make. But my guess will be August, since that's when Canon usually announces their products for Photokina.

Bottomline, anyone that claims they can tell you when it'll be announced and what the specs are, they're full of crap. The people that do know are under non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and they obviously won't tell you or start rumours.

Almost everything.


I do believe the Sales Reps have an idea to give to their accounts "when" the new models will be released!!! No, not specs. It is coming soon....in that part of the market share, Canon is taking a hit. Nikon is all over with NEW DSLR's...just my thoughts.

Eh, I have a 20D and honestly can't imagine the 40D to be a wow or a must buy item for most of us. If you've got an older body I just can't imagine (after the 30d release) that it's going to be evolutionary. Just pick up a used 5D or Full pro body and be happy.
