For me, even more exciting is Canon getting its act together on the flash system. I'm sick with jealously over the Nikon speelights at times. I just hope the external sync option trickles down into all the flashes. It would also be nice if the price of the current 580EX comes down a bit...I've always thought it was way too expensive for what it is...for less money you can get metz systems that are a bit more versatile, aka rechargable batteries, handheld option, etc. I'm just glad to see in this area, Canon's at least attempting to get up to speed. |

> Somebody needs to explain to me why a stable product market that doesn't change every six months is a bad thing. Most people complaining that "Canon didn't come out with a camera personalized for me" probably aren't going to buy a new camera anyway. |

Canon cameras (and flashes) have only national warranties, even though normally bought lenses have international warranties. However, this is a minor flaw in the business case of camera shopping tourism: a major flaw is that it is profitable only if you smuggle the products to your home country and are not caught while doing it. |

The MKII has issues that Canon could not fix, the MKIIn was the fix but not really an upgrade. |

I think I understand where Adrian is coming from. He wants the 5D but is reluctant to pay so much. |

So what do you think about 7-8th March announcements? I'm pretty sure 1Ds mkIII is not going to be announced as well as 6D, because it would hurt the 1Ds mkII sales if Canon intorduced it before mkIII (but I still hope for 5D mkII, with same sensor, but antidust, weather sealing, DIGIC III and some minor improvements). 40D perhaps... |

I'm enthused with Canon's new introductions so far and happy for those who've been waiting for the 1.3 crop upgrade - many had it dying away remember? |

Let Canon enjoy the moment for a while with the 1D3 announcement. They deserve it with this release although it may not be the camera for me. Two or three camera releases would have taken the spotlight away from the 1D3. Let them get the first batch on the street... then we'll see some of these new improvement trickle into a 40D and 5D mark II. |

"Not to rub salt in the wound, but here in the states if you buy something mail order and the company does not have a presence in your state you don't pay the sales tax. B&H is in new york and I live in new jersey (they are seperated by the hudson river), and I don't pay tax. That's why the prices are listed without tax; the tax is determined by state. Theoretically you are supposed to keep track of such purchases and pay an additional tax at the end of the year. The down side is that if I drive across the bridge and visit their store to pick out my lens I do have to pay the 8% NY sales tax." |

Oh man... I sure hope Canon doesn't think that putting a 30D in some boxes with a few different lenses is really something to celebrate... |
