I was hoping for this release announcement but I guess another cycle or two? I do appreciate that Canon does not make announcements for products that are a year away like some of the other companies out there. |

Could still come at PMA, I suppose. But I bet it's in the Fall of this year. |

There's still the chance that they're going to announce more gear... |

They will announce more gear, though probably not any more in the 1-series or f/2.8 zooms. Chances are they will announce the 40D and one or two lower-cost lenses than the 16-35/2.8L Mk II. |

Given the 1D3 specs, it will not be hard to guess what the 1Ds3 specs will be. Dang, another 6 month wait... |

Funny to see guys with 1ds MKIIs and all the bells and whistles comment about no 1ds mk3. Most people would love a MKii |

1Ds MK II was great in 2004, but it is 2007 now. And some people want to shoot teles without the largest glass. More pixels would allow some cropping and 4FPS is sometimes too slow. |

In my opinion, the 1Dsmk2 can still give the best images of any 35mm DSLR.. |

Paul Pope has just said the 1Ds III is September release. He says Canon could not make a unified camera with 10fps at the 1.3x crop. However, he feels the extra 6 months will rsult in a cheaper 1Ds III as they refine the sensor production. |

NO disrespect to Paul Pope but he is not always correct with his predictions. Nonetheless it is pretty clear that the 1Ds III will be released at some point and since it has been anticipated for a year now, fall is a safe bet |

my guess is september. i'd much prefer it to be announced at PMA though since i'd be able to use it during the bulk of my shooting as well as have it in-hand for fall landscapes. maybe we'll luck out and see it in june or july. |
