I ordered a couple of 10X16 background muslins from Amvona this morning and heard from a friend that he had some problems in the past with them. Have any of you bought muslins from Amvona? How is the quality of the muslin and what about the customer service.

Thanks in advance for the opinions...

Terry

Read up first. I've made this mistake a few times - order, then discover.

Usually I am really good about that...just been insanely busy and needed a couple of cheap muslins really quick. Still, I have read some good things and some bad, so we'll see I suppose...

Anyone actually using their muslins?

Terry, I have quite a few of the amvona muslins as well as others that I have purchased on ebay. The quality is ok as are the other from places like backdrop outlet however the material is a little thinner then my Denny backdrops. But for the price difference, they are a steal and work great.

Here is an image I took using an amvona backdrop that is very popular as it took a year to finally get one for the price I wanted. It doesn't look like much in person but when you light it properly it is pretty nice.

One word of caution, their colored bakdrops tend to shed. I had some rubber padding under the muslin to give the models a break from standing on the concrete floor, when i lifted the muslin up, everything under it was red. If this had been a clients white carpet instead of my concrete floor I would have been hit with a large carpet cleaning bill I am sure. Just keep that in mind when laying down painted muslins.

Amvona muslins are above the eBay average. I do like that they are fully hemmed and have both a rod pocket hem and grommets. There are better muslins, but at a higher price.

A lot of other muslins in the lower-to-lower-middle price range with Amvona also shed. I spray them with Scotchgard to prevent it.

I've gotten several things from Amvona without a problem, although I've read of other people having problems with them. Their response is not instantaneous--they may take four or five business days to get an order shipped, which is par for them.

Amvona is hit & miss on quality. I have a bunch of the 806a lightstands and absolutely love them. I also like the light disk holders.

The brolly box or umbrella box as they call it was junk.

I've got a strip box coming, we will see how that is.

Thanks for the feedback. I got a note the next morning with the tracking info and the muslins should arrive tomorrow. I will watch for shedding and probably look into the Scotchguard trick if I find there is a problem.

I'll keep everyone posted...thanks again

Muslins arrived within 3 days of order. The quality was better than I expected for the money. I would certainly buy from them again....The color on the one was a little off from the ad, but perfectly acceptable. The other was just amazing..

Thanks!

I agree. I have around a dozen of the Amvona muslins and they are great for the price. I would also reccomend Silverlake muslins, they are fantastic but will cost you a little more.

I don't mind at all...this is the one I am most happy with. Mine looks like the last thumbnail...more of a tan color...

This is the one I am least happy with...seems mine is much more pink than brown...still should work nice though..
