I am a beginner, and I visit this forum everyday for learning. Thanks all of you for your wonderful pictures. Now I need your help to judge if this picture is taken at the first place or done in photoshop afterwards. I wonder where the magic light come from. Following is the link

http://photos.nphoto.net/photos/2006-11/19/ff8080810ef77e53010f00b49a6f451d.shtml

The photograper claimed that he did not do any photoshop editing, took this picture with film, scan it and load to the website directly.

Thanks for you help!

Terry

Hi Terry,

Are you from the area where the photo was taken? Just wondering why you think the shot is impossible (or improbable). It looks as is there is a mountain behind this little town and the sun rises in a little slot that lit this spot up first on this particular day. Indeed, it is odd that there is no light in front of or behind the subject, but I'm sure there could be an explanation.

Pretty much anything can be done in photoshop, including altering this shot to make it look like it does. This actually might not take all that much time using a 'night-shot' technique (there's even a plugin for this). However, I usually tend to take the photographer's word on things. This shot doesn't really seem worth it to go through the effort to fake.

Hi Ajkessler,

Thanks for your comments. I come from Beijing, and now I live in Atlanta. The picture was taken in Tibet. I just feel the light in this picture is very odd to me. Thanks again for your help.

This shot look like it could well be real.. the spread of light and the secondary reflected light seems in keeping with the landscape..

Looks strange to me, you would think there would be some light rays coming from somewhere since the rest of the images is so dark and even black in many areas. I don't think it was PS, I think it was manipulated in the darkroom.
