I recently purchased a used 70-300 IS. I have done some testing, but the weather is so crummy around here I am not going to be to concerned that it seems to be slightly soft. The barrel has some wobble and I understand there were problems with early models. For those who have this lens should I be concerned with this wobble?

Thanks in advance

Mine "wobbles" also. There was a previous thread on this issue and it is normal for this lens to "wobble". At least that was the consensus. However, I must say that my 70-300 is exceptionally sharp at all focal lengths and I am very pleased with this lens.

thanks for your reply

My 70-300 IS is SN 10004161, and it performs perfectly.

Mine is 11003049 and I'm happy with it. The problem was mostly with vertical shots if I remember the other thread.
