Just an oddball thought...how about taking a Canon EP-EX15 and replacing the image reducing lens with a magnifier? The Nikon eyecup just doesn't work for those of us with glasses, and going without just isn't an option. Time for yet another experiment.

I also heard that the one for Olympus E-500 fits on XT, but haven't confirmed yet by myself...

Can anyone confirm this? The AS-ME-1 (which I assume is what you mean) costs a bit more ($40USD) but it's 1.2x rather than 1.17x like the DK-21m, or so says the internet. Probably doesn't make much difference but if it fits straight on I'd give it a go.

Thanks

Many Thanks,

Me too!!! Although I have an oval eye cup that works great without my glasses on, it's difficult to move from horizontal to vertical. The round cup would make this much easier.

Can someone also use a Dremel tool to put the 1Ds MarkII guts into a F5 body so I can have accurate fill flash, Nikon eyepieces, and those great Nikon wide angle lenses?

So has anyone figured out what eye cup is good for people who have glasses?

From a search for further info on a Nikon user site:
"I just checked my D2H that is fitted with a DK-17M magnifier and DK-19 Rubber eye cap.The DK2 rubber eye piece does not fit the DK17M magnifier as well as DK19 rubber eye piece."

From the Nikon site:
"The Nikon DK-19 is specifically designed for the F6 camera, and allows for more comfortable viewing, especially for eyeglass users, with less stray light entering the viewfinder. Also good for F5/D2H/D2Hs/D2x."

As I am an eyeglass wearer as well I have ordered the DK-19 eyecup which looks a bit shallower and may be more useful.
Will know when it arrives with a DK-17M from Singapore in a week or so I expect.

Has anyone tried the dk-21m to compare it to the dk-17m? The dk-21m is a lot cheaper than the dk-17m so it may be optically worse...? The dk-21m is also very appealing because of no modification required...

Arggghhh... So my precious dk-17m was lost on vacation in the Galapagos. So I now need to either make a new one or get the dk-21m. I've read the previous posts on the dk-21m, but has anyone had the chance to use the dk-17m and the dk-21m to compare them? I really like the 17, but if the 21 is optically similar and smaller that'd be nice.

Thanks,

Ken

DK 17M is the critical part and is still impossible to find. Perhaps Nikon only makes these once or twice a year?

Well I have a brand new DK-17M I bought some time ago but never used.

If anyone wants to make me an offer, feel free to PM or email...

Thanks for the link.

What's up with that big flange behind the eyecup?
This sure doesn't look very good to me unless I'm misunderstanding something.
