The choice is easy for me....no money.

Well I do have the money in theory, but I wouldnt dent my savings and my relationship for a camera. My 300D is one year old, and my 10D less than that. My hope is to extend the life of my 10D until a full frame body more or less like this 5D costs what a 20D costs now. Maybe 2/3 years?

Well, while it might be slightly odd, it doesn't do anything to the validity of the info at least - for example, the 1Ds Mk II has PictBridge as well.

Personally I think there might well be use for such a feature. How about if you want to offer quick prints to clients right on the location? Not an unprecedented situation. PictBridge could be quite useful in such cases. You could use it a bit like Polaroid, without needing a computer in the middle. And since it's just a software feature (at least to my understanding, considering that many cameras have had PB added in a firmware update), better to include than exclude it, since better to have it and not need it than not have it and need it, right?

Prime example of the "Famed EOS 3D" coming out in a year and a half which will surely solve all the problems already associated with the 5D.

Sorry, I am not a camera expert, but it doesn't make sense to me: it would mean that the EF-S lenses (3 so far) were made just for the 20D; that if you want to upgrade from the 20D to the "5D" you have also to change a whole set of lenses (you would still want to retain the focal lenghts that you cover now); that many PJs, which have been advocated for a less bulky body than the current 1D series would dump them for the "5D" (kind of more pros using the F801/F100 than the F4/F5 in former times) etc.

The 1DsmkII and the 1DmkII have it.

I like the fact that the grip is removable and the size of a 20d. hope this rumor is true... Anyone want a 20d?

Would bet that the mysterious PDF does not show the new "tweener" DSLR. At the same time there are clear signs indicating that the PDF has been created by an agency working for Canon Europe.

Could it be that this whole thing is a part of Canons launch campaign for the new camera? Viral marketing?

Canon is probably getting consumers' reactions to the specs and price by "leaking" out the mysterious pdf.

Only for 20D? How so? Don't forget the 300D and 350D. D'oh. Besides, the EF-S lenses aren't pro lenses. The 20D is a semi-pro or pro body though.

Besides, who's forcing anyone to upgrade?

What's a pro lens? Alex Majoli uses digicams...

Looks fake to me:

Check out the camera has a popup flash on the back pic but on the front one there is no pop up flash.....

The 1.6 crop will be here for a long time. The 5D isn't the 20D replacement. The "30D" will be have a 1.6 crop sensor.

I like this camera for what it is, an updated 1Ds.

Canon has PictBridge in the 1D cameras, too. And yes, it is odd to me. Must be important in Japan.

It was the Canon-Spain rep who first leaked this "October surprise" several months ago. Either he got his hand swatted for that and he's a slow learner or he's Canon's authorized official unauthorized unofficial leaker.

An EOS 5D is on it's way through the pipeline and will be official on the 22. of August (Canon tradition; 300D 19. of august etc.), possibly earlier noe that 'the cat is out of the bag'.

Look up this: http://alex.netfun.ro/Canon5D-specs.pdf

I think I may be having an orgasm over all this excitement. Is there something wrong with me

I see no indication of a pop-up flash on the back. What part exactly are you looking at ? The hotshoe ?

fake or not, the amount of detail and original design someone put into it is really impressive. The curvature of the back layout for example is definatly different than that of the 10D or 20D for example. I dont think anyone talented enough to pull this off would of "forgetten" to take the pop up flash off the back view

while it may be real, the one part that looks fake (as has been mentioned elsewhere, i think) is that the camera strap on the body's left is shown on the front view, but is missing when viewed from the rear.
