As we all know, Canon's ETTL2 flash system only allows you to control 3 groups of flash (A, B, C). You can independently set ratios between these flash units (A:B and A:C). What if you want to add a fourth group of flash? I was curious to see if you could fake a fourth group by assigning it to group C, and then set FEC on the slave unit to get a different output from that particular slave unit. ![]() 2. RATIO set at 8:1, FEC Master:0, Slave:0 ![]() 3. RATIO set at 1:8, FEC Master:0, Slave:0 ![]() At this point I have established that "normal" flash ratio control works with this setup. So I went on and did the experiment: 4. RATIO set at 1:1, FEC Master:-3, Slave:0 ![]() 5. RATIO set at 1:1, FEC Master:-3, Slave:+3 ![]() Conclusion FEC cannot be used on slave flash units to fake a fourth group. Edited by Amfibius on Nov 20, 2004 at 09:22 AM GMT |
