Awesome shots under adverse conditions. I especially like the barn shot in #2, and the angle you got in the last one. Nicely done!

Stan, great series. I especially like the 3rd and 4th photos. The barn with the ti roof is great set against the colorful background. As for the fourth, it is too bad that the white fence does not exisit where all the other fencing is. That would have giving the scene a great completeness. Regardless, you captured the scene well and I thank you for sharing them!

For someone who lives in eastern Iowa, you sure have done a good job of showing it. Hell I didn't know there could be such nice scenery! I'll have to get out and see if I can take some similar pictures! What lens were you using to take these?

AJ, thanks much for the comments, I appreciate it. I thought the same thing about the white fence when I was framing the shot.

cdorr, thanks much, I used the 18-55mm kit lens. I think it's a better lens than most people realize. Where do you live? I live in Urbandale.

Sweet series. I like the subtle lighting. Wait until the 10-22 lens comes out. That will be a treat for FOV landscape shots.

Excellent series, Stan. You've represented your state admirably. I really like the peaceful feeling of 2 & 4. Both are very lovely. I think I might have put just a bit more ground beneath the barn otherwise it's aces for it, as well.

I'm in the Quad Cities. Specifically Davenport. I'm just shooting with the 50mm right now (broke!), but hope to be getting another lens this next spring. I really need to find some places to take some landscape pictures. Any suggestions?

Also do you know of any photo clubs around this area? Need vast improvement on my photography skills!

i know im off but backbone is not near strawberry point or elkader is it?
i used to live in iowa as well long time ago but lost track of some things here and there. i cant remember any times i seen the landscapes and rural settings as amazing as the images youve shared stanz. i keep telling myself one of these days i'll get back out there, if for nothing more than to walk through the field of dreams maze during late autumn.

piddlep, yes you remembered correctly. Backbone State Park is just a few miles south of Strawberry Point in NE Iowa. Come on back anytime as it's quite beautiful here this time of year, and thanks for the compliments stan

This barn shot and the last 3 are really vibrant and very well composed.
