I bought my wife a refurbed EOS-3 and 28-135 IS. They both look new and operated just fine. |

I've been using a referb Elan 7e for about a year now. Works great. And it was like half the cost of a new one!!! |

Well, it's still a bit hit or miss, I'm afraid. I ordered a refurb 1D from Samy's in LA for a very good price a little while ago. When it came (in the white box), it looked brand new and everything seemed fine. But as it turned out it had the famous banding problems at ISO 400 and higher and several dead pixel. Samy's replaced it with another refurb - same result: Looked brand new but awful banding problems. I finally upgraded to a MarkII. I don't blame Samy's for this, they were very helpful to resolve the problem. But I wonder how it can be possible that a pro camera body leaves Canon as "reburbished" and then has such obvious flaws... Your mileage my vary though. |

I've bought a fair amount of referb gear ... some of it Canon lenses. I figure if it is referbed, a technician has looked at it. That is better than the majority of production items. I have never received any referb gear that I have had problems with. YMMV ... |

My refurb 1D was better than my new one . . . . had to send the new one back to be calibrated. |
