Well I haven't heard much about the Tamron 70-200 except for a handful of reviews that think its pretty wonderful. I'm wondering if anyone knows any places that have it in stock? I've already checked the usual outlets like BH, Amazon and Adorama.

first, last and only bump before I just invest in the Nikon version. Figured I'd be a Guinea pig and take the leap of faith.

I had the old version, non VC . . . and I really liked it a lot. Very sharp. Nice rendition. Lighter than similar lenses I've used. Not quite as sturdy as the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8 but still very nice. Things I liked about it: Close focus, very sharp, even from f/2.8. People's complaints - slower focusing (screw focus) and not the best at tracking. I personally never noticed these issues, but YMMV.

I just went ahead and picked up the Nikon 70-200, I saw a few good reviews of the new Tamron VC, but couldn't find it anywhere. I really wanted to give it a try, but oh well.
