i got it as well. What i don not like are the strong barrel/wave distortions ! Can be very ugly

However, for some lenses it might be OK. The bokeh is nice, the sharpness OK.

ooooh baby! they look oddly appropriate on the NEX body. can't wait to see how the R to X looks with the 35/2 mounted.

So these lens have been modified into EF mount already, am I right?

however, ... i try to hurry with pictures.

yes, all my lenses i have converted to EF, since I got a 5D MarkII 2 years ago. Even FD 85mm, is converted, but it would strongly hit the mirror by ca. 2-3 mm.

The converter gives you the FF look, but it is not suited for architecture shots, since it favors barrel distortions on the border of the picture. bokeh is fine. Up to now i mainly used the 50mm 1.2, since it fits best. For the FD 85mm 1.2 i need a grey filter. It can not be used at daylight (< 1/4000 at iso100).

Vivek and Brian Caldwell note on GetDPI that the CY 35-70mm 3.4 zoom vignetting is a result of the zoom, so would also occur on FF,

Using the published exit pupil data for the 35-70/3.4 I was able to check the SB design and can verify that the SB itself won't contribute any vignetting at all at the 35mm end. In other words, 100% of the vignetting seen in John's 35mm/3.4 test shot (25mm f/2.4 actual) is due to the attached zoom lens.

The exit pupil distance of the 35-70mm/3.4 grows from 57mm to 78.6mm as you zoom from 35mm to 70mm. For an exit pupil distance of 78.6mm its possible to get a trace of vignetting in the extreme corner with the Speed Booster, but most likely the zoom lens blocks the pertinent rays before they even get to the SB so that the SB effectively contributes no vignetting throughout the zoom range."

That would be easy to check with some corner-placed OOF blur discs. If the discs are cats-eye shaped even when used on a normal setup, then the lens is giving a hard mechanical vignette.

New here and thought I'd reply because I've got this for about 2 weeks now.

I have the NEX-7 + Speed Booster and I only have one of the EF 50 f1.8 lens since I'm a Nikon guy, aside from that, the notable lenses for this purpose are...

- Nikon AiS 50mm f1.2
- Nikon AiS 35mm f1.4
- Nikon AiS 28mm f2
- Nikon AiS 180mm f2.8
- Samyang 24mm t1.5 video
- Samyang 35mm t1.5 video
- Samyang 85mm f1.4
- Sigma 50mm f1.4
- Rokkor 58mm f1.2 (not converted at all)
- Pentax m42 55mm f1.8 (don't think I can get this mounted yet)

I can test some of them when I have time though! I'm just busy because I'm working full time and I'm also doing a Masters degree...

Would be nice to see the Samyangs!

By inspect my Leica 50 and 35cron, One thing, I notice that almost all Leica R prime lens I have have a metal part stand out at lens back. Even most of them clear DSLR mirror,(only very small portion stand out but away from Mirror movement) they will still be problem with SB. So I think many of them need some surgery to be able to use on SB. at least there will be a lot more capability problems than Metabone website listed, which I feel sorry that Metabone don't mention it in their website at all.

Just want bring this to anybody interested in Leica R SB.

In dpreview, 50L reported as it has af with SB. However, the af speed might be too slow as they warned in the SB site. Here is a review of 50L with Nex-7:
