Visitors with the Chickadees were some Sparrows and a brief showing by a Tufted Titmouse. Here are a few more trying to 'stretch' the low light of this Winter's day. Handheld, shooting from under an overhang and enjoying the light snow falling. The Titmouse had an OOF area from a foreground weed spike on its back but I still liked the feel in the shot

Thanks for stopping by, your comments are always encouraged!

Karl

Edit on #1 for a bit more contrast
Edit on #3 to remove stick behind bird from back....thanks Tim K
Edit on Tufted Titmouse to remove weed from tail (thanks Chris) and clean up around beak
Thanks guys and gals for input for refinement.........better now

You might say the light is blah, but I love the enormous softbox effect of the winter snowy light. Love the 4tones in number 3.

These are lovely Karl in whatever light. In fact I think the subdued lighting is a big plus...very much winter scenes that are simple and elegant.

Nice set Karl! The diffuse light in conjunction with the snow is a real plus. The Song Sparrow and Tufted Titmouse are my favorites. The addition of a catch light in the Song Sparrow's eye will enhance your pic.

Great job as always,
Tom

Seems to be the time of year Karl. Overcast and overcast. Birds do what birds do regardless of what we want. Great job capturing these #3 and 4 are my picks

Each image is quite nice Karl. The cropping for #2 is very effective given the fencing material along the bottom. Very appealing image. The third is made better due to the bits of snow blowing about. Well done.

#3 with the sense of the wind blowing the cattail fluff is my pick. Lovely BG on all of these. Don

What a lovely set Karl. I really like 2 and 3. Love how you have used the fence in the composition.
The third shot with the sense of motion from the cattail is beautiful.

These all have wonderful reflected light on them Karl, I don't find them to lit dully. 1 is a classic, 3 I really like but as you would say to me, maybe remove the tree growing out of the back of the bird. I too like the titmouse but I have a soft spot for them since we don't have them here. You have inspired me to drive to the snow and shoot rather than sit around here and wine about the weather!

Very nice work Karl, 2 and 4 are my favourites. I sure like the cattail perch. Your blah light looks a lot warmer than ours, things seem very blue around here.

Would agree on the nice softbox effect the snow offers, nice fill from it thankfully.
Thanks much!

Thanks Eric, a little more intensity of 'subdued' light would have been nice though. I agree bright sunlight on snow is not good!
