Well, on the upside, this new 24-70 might drive down the price of the older 24-70 2.8, which is a fantastic lens in it's own right. |

35 f2 is will be in the wish list bucket and in the kit as and if the prices drops ~500 ...unlikely as these may be geared towards the video crowd |

Zoom. Yawn. The 35 might be good once the price drops and it is added to the Canon lens rebate list. |

All I care about is optical quality. Either one of these new lenses could possibly fit the bill if super sharp edge to edge. Hope that is the case. As neither the old 24-70mm or 24-105mm is very good in that regard. |

I'm not expecting the 24-70 f/4L IS to be priced as high as suggested. It should be part of the EOS 6D kit making it a great compact full frame alternative. When shooting landscape, sometimes the conditions call for only one lens and the 24-105L IS is my choice. However, as much as I think it produces decent IQ, fixing its high wide-angle distortion diminishes this edge quite a bit. If the new 24-70L IS has better distortion control and higher corner resolution, I will be seriously thinking about this trade. |

That is kind of what i am thinking too, for those times when a strenuous hike demands I take only one small lens and no tripod... the 24-70 IS could be very nice. I refuse to spend 1800 on it though, I could seriously invest in a mirror less system for that price. |

As said if the 24-70f5L IS is the 6d kit lens pricing it as high as the 24-105, or higher, makes no sense whatsoever. |

that 35 sounds awesome, but if the new 24 and 28's are any indication it'll be ridiculously priced for at least a solid year. |

If the 24-70 II is $2100, imagine what the same lens with IS would cost |

For me, nothing beats the trusted old 28-135 as a walk-around zoom. Plenty sharp and plenty of zoom. Light on weight and wallet. |

Again nothing exciting for me here .....so you will get IS with f/4 in the 24-70 but not in the ridiculously priced 24-70/2.8? 35/2 sounds a bit better, but I will gladly stick to my 35/1.4..... |
