FWIW: I like the shot as is and notice the OoF areas when I first commented. If I was a photo editor with this shot, I would say the action qualities of the photo outweigh the focus issues (if any).

Outstanding Russ, I am going to go with #2 and of course the stadium shot, you do them like no other.
