That is bizarre. Did anything else change on your system in the same timespan, such as drivers?

Only thing is a renewed paid subscription update of Avast anti virus software. May be I should search in one of the security settings?

Do you have a backup or restore point you could invoke?

Try disabling it completely for the duration of the reinstall and see if it changes anything.

It could easily be a conflict with anti-virus sw. I use MS Security Essentials and it pops up a window every now and then saying SPP is possible malware.

On my 6 core HP Z800 SPP 5.4.0 would crash every time I saved files. SPP 5.4.1 was a bugfix version for this known problem with computers with over "9 threads or more" according to Sigma. The software is a little buggy but Sigma do seem to be trying to iron out the problems.

Try what carsten said or try to go back to the last good version that worked for you.

Oke thank you guys for the help. I did not find the time to work on it again but I will give it a try.
