So I got a couple new lenses (older, alt lenses). One of them has a 67mm 1A UV filter that is labeled as "Popular" and made in Japan. Anybody ever heard of this brand?

Nope. Are they MC? If not I would trash them.

Not sure to be honest. There's nothing on the ring other than what I've already posted. Seems well built though. But that doesn't mean anything. I'll have to do some with and without comparisons when my adapters arrive. Having high hopes it's decent since it was made in Japan, probably around the late 70's. The other filter is a Hoya 1B Skylight. I know Hoyas decent, so I'll be keeping that one.

I'm one of "those" people that likes to keep them on my lenses as protection.

A quick test for coatings is to look at a reflection of a lighted bulb on the surface of the filter. If the bulb changes color it is coated.

"Popular" is probably a rebadged other brand.

I have a stack of 49/52/55mm filters, acquired the same way, you can have if want.
