i've seen this a few times, but haven't commented. imo the lux stomps the others in this comparison. it shows that the supposedly worse bokeh of the lux asph (compared to pre asph) is really just very neutral bokeh. even the front bokeh looks well controlled.


Thanks for you thoughts on this. Yes, the Lux ASPH is very neutral front vs. back. Personally I like the CV40 the best for it's much stronger interpretation of the blur discs, but that's just me... It's why I bought the 40.

Thanks, glad you liked it - I found it quite informative. I only have two 35mm lenses and they're not really similar - the CV35 f/1.2 II and the ZM35 f/2.8... but am thinking of redoing this test with the above lenses and the CV35 as well... next week would be the earliest.

Oh, I also just bought a 50 f/1.5 Summarit that I could add to the mix when it arrives, but I think it has a minimum focusing distance of 1m, which is a bummer. The CV50 f/1.5 is 90cm, also a drag. Might be worth getting a 5N and a Hawk's adapter specifically for this... Are there M extension tubes? Would be fine on the GXR...
