Looks a bit like a waste to me if he's not getting the M (or M9). The tri elmar really is great on a FF sensor, as is the 50 lux.

i've found the MD lenses to be little hidden gems (partially to phillip reeve)

as i was acquiring the m-mounts over the last 6 months my thinking was also a lineup that would work well in the future on the new M, a price dropped M9 or even another mirrorless FF. I also wanted lenses that worked well on the Nex 7 though. I've had the 50 summilux for just two weeks and it's been an excellent lens on the 7. As with the lens lineup I put together for my D700 i think more about long term lenses and less about the camera bodies that come and go.

My last "minimum perversum" NEX kit:

haha, that minus the sigma is exacty my kit. I have another two dozen lenses on my cupboard but that is the basic kit.
I was really thinking about the sigma 19/2.8 but i just ordered a Samyang 35/1.4, mainly for the 5dII though.

Phillip, I don't know enough about the exact Sigma macro to tell you which specific model it is. I'll take some pictures of it. It does 1:1, neutral color cast, ample contrast when bumped and great bokeh.

For night shooting:
OM 21/3.5* & OM 50/1.4*

My travel kit:
OM 21/3.5*(if I want wide), Elmarit M 28/2.8*, Canon LTM 100/3.5*

Others I like using:

The CV and Samyang rock. They're really, really good. The Sony WA is also very good for what it is. I really dislike the Contax G adapter I got, it's a pita to use those lenses. I'm selling them. I mostly use the CV and Samyang for summit type shots.

I recently acquired the Sony-Zeiss 24/1.8. Seems like a pretty good lens, but so far I'm just not thrilled with going back to AF with my 5N, nor the focus by wire. It's not as if the Voigts are Leicas... but they sure feel like it compared to these electronic lenses.

I was thinking about going to the 24/1.8 and Sony 10-18 as my primary kit, which would cover my needs for backpacking and most every day things since 35mm is my normal FL. I won't let go of the 40/1.4 either, just find that lens always makes me happy.

I'm reconsidering the plan to switch now. I might bail out of the 24/1.8 and go all in with the new CV 21/1.4 ! There are other implications of that though (weight, size, cost, mfd) so I dunno yet. I might need some convincing.

I really hated using that lens. I was never unhappy with the results, but it sucked all of the fun out of getting there. I didn't include that in the "For Sale" post because, A, Funsucker is not good advertising and, B, some things you just have to learn for yourself. The good news is I think you'll get out of it unscathed if you decide to sell. Someday it might even find someone who can appreciate it more for what it does than how it feels doing it.

Sharpness just wasn't there for me, so I never used them, it could be just the samples I had though, my Elmarit is night and day sharper than the 28 which had white spots, and I don't need cornerfix,
the 40 just wasn't sharp, and the 90 was just ok, my Canon 100/3.5 LTM blows it out of the water.
I'm still looking for a RF normal that's as sharp as my Topcor 58/1.8, if I can do that I'll be vary happy, 50 Cron? Canon 50/1.5(Sonnor) LTM?
I have the Canon LTM 50/1.8(Planer) it's also not the sharpest wide open, which is too bad as it's beautifully made, I do need to shoot with it a bit more.

intriguing, i've always avoided the 28 because of the white spot issue, but my 40 cron which is the same design as the rokkor 40mm appears to be sharper than even my g45 in the central portion. flatness of field isn't it's strong point, but it's one of my favorites in the f/2.8 to f/11 range.

are you looking for sharpness to match the topcor wide open or stopped down and in the corners or in the center?
