I think people overestimate the value of a large HD monitor. You can get 27\" HD monitor for about $400 or less on Newegg.
Mdude - there is a huge difference between a 27\" 1920 x 1080 monitor and a 27\" 2600x1440 monitor. Pricing out a 30\" LED IPS monitor and knocking a few dollars off is a more accurate cost estimate.
