Review: Benro C-068m8 Travel Angel

Review: Benro Travel Angel C-068m8 + B-0 +PU-50

This review is meant to give one more perspective on the great Benro/Induro debate. I’m happy with the product—though surely a few voices will say I’m crazy. At some point I may break down the head in order to see what changes have been made, if any, to the design of the infamous “pot metal… poor engineering” breakdown from some time ago on a different line of Benro ballheads.

Specs w/ ballhead:

Folded length – 14”
Weight – 1.96 lbs/0.8 kg*

* According to a Benro Marketing Manager, there are two versions of this tripod, and the one sold in the kit has a lighter center column. I think that the difference is that the “kit” version comes without a real mounting plate to reduce weight and column height, and to allow the legs to fold tight. The weight reduction to the “kit” legs because of this is ~ 0.2 kg. Mine lacks a true mounting plate. As far as I can tell, this only applies to the 0-series legs.

Max Height – 45” to top of QR, 49” to viewfinder (5D)
Max Height w/ Column – 53” to top of QR, 57” to viewfinder (5D)
Min Height – 14”

Max Cross Section folded – Hard to determine, but 3” to 4” depending how you measure.
Leg Diameter – 22mm (biggest)/13mm (smallest)
Leg Sections – 4; top 3 non-rotating, bottom rotating.
