Re: Post your Canon 200mm f/2 (200/2) shots! | |
I don\'t know if it\'s worth the extra $3000+.
Here\'s my take on it:
An extra stop is an extra stop. I was shooting an indoor recital with my 1DMKIII and was at f2 1/3200. Much better than f2.8 1/6400. This lens is a low light monster.
There is just no CA to speak of. None.
Takes the 1.4x very well. You get a 280mm f2.8 4-stop IS lens that rivals the 300L f2.8 IS in both IQ and AF speed.
Takes the 2x reasonably well also. You get a 400m f4 f-stop IS lens when stopped down to f5.6, is just as good as the 100-400L in IQ...maybe a tad slower on the AF, but certainly good enough for me to track birds, vehicles, etc. (Note, I am not a birder!)
You can stack TC\'s together and shoot in Servo provided you have good light. It will eventually settle down. I\'ve just recently discovered this. Not that I would typically try this...but here are some test shots.
Just a very versatile lens when you need it to be.

very beautiful, did you try taking any of those shots @ 2.8? I am asking because I am curious to know if F2 is worth all the extra money over the 2.8 lens.
Thanks
