Thanks, appreciate your thoughts - for clarification #3, the onlooker is a rugger watching for the ball to exit the scrum. I never have figured out how it works, sometimes they play the ball, others a whistle followed by another scrum.
Strategy is in fact their huddle-up after the final whislte - gathering wits and emotions prior to handshakes (they were defeated 15-8). On a roll at end - 5 more minutes perhaps a different outcome.
