I\'m still waiting for a D700 replacement...

I\'m quite happy with my D700 still. The only real improvements I\'d appreciate are a 100% viewfinder, and the sensor from the D4, or the D3S before it.

I liked the D800E I was playing with at the local Henry\'s, but I\'m in no rush to upgrade. The D700 is just that fine a camera.

I agree with you Philip. My comment came less from dissatisfaction than a willingness to stay open to new developments. Yesterday I ran into my friend George who first introduced me to the D700 three and a half years ago and asked how he is feeling about his recently acquired D800. He is loving it. Of course, he comes from medium format film, so the added megapixels are very welcome. He also shoots only with a tripod and so the grip that I found uncomfortable wouldn\'t even be a consideration for him.

I will be content with the D700 for a long time but it would be nice to KNOW there were a camera that I could move to when the time comes. I feel the same way about my 1999 Acura CL coupe... a gorgeous car that is a joy to drive, even at 127,000 miles. Eventually, it will no longer be economical to keep the car, so I always keep my eye on new cars to see what might be my next purchase...
